The New England Electorate is a very diverse region producing a broad range of goods and services. Primary production activities include the growing of grains, beef, lamb, pork, wool, dairying, fruit and vegetables, poultry, eggs, various mining activities, timber production, viticulture and aquaculture. The are numerous important secondary manufacturing and production facilities across the Electorate producing goods for shipment to domestic and international markets. There are numerous business activities across the electorate ranging from small, single person enterprises to large multi-national corporations. The towns and cities throughout the New England region have an excellent range of modern services and facilities offering an outstanding lifestyle for its residents. There are first class health, education, sporting and recreational activities. The University of New England at Armidale is widely known across Australia and beyond as a key centre of advanced education, promoting excellence of achievement amongst the many thousands of students undertaking tertiary studies. Each year there are numerous cultural and sporting activities conducted throughout the region and a strong and justifiably proud sense of community spirit exists across the Electorate. |
